聖代無隱者,英靈盡來歸。
遂令東山客,不得顧采薇。
既至金門遠,孰雲吾道非?

遠樹帶行客,孤城當落暉。
吾謀適不用,勿謂知音稀。

【註解】:1、東山客:指東晉謝寧,曾隱居東山。
2、采薇:指殷末伯夷、叔齊采薇西山。
3、遠:這裏指不能入金馬門。
4、寒食:節令名,清明前一天或兩天。
【韻譯】:
政治清明時代絕無隱者存在,
為朝政服務有才者紛紛出來。
連你這個象謝安的山林隱者,
也不再效法伯夷叔齊去采薇。
你應試落弟不能待詔金馬門,
那是命運不濟誰說吾道不對?
去年寒食時節你正經過江淮,
滯留京洛又縫春衣已過一載。
我們又在長安城外設酒餞別,
同心知己如今又要與我分開。
你行將駕駛著小船南下歸去,
不幾天就可把自家柴門扣開。
遠山的樹木把你的身影遮蓋,
夕陽余輝映得孤城艷麗多彩。
你暫不被錄用純屬偶然的事,
別以為知音稀少而徒自感慨!
【評析】:
這是一首勸慰友人落第的詩。
落第還鄉之人,心情自然懊喪。作為摯友,多方給予慰籍,使其覺得知音有人是
極為重要的。全詩著意在這個主旨上加以烘染,有敘事、有寫景、有抒情,有感慨,
有勉勵。寫景清新,抒情柔蜜,感慨由衷,勉勵摯敬,吟來令人振奮。

In a happy reign there should be no hermits;
The wise and able should consult together....
So you, a man of the eastern mountains,
Gave up your life of picking herbs
